Follow-up: Not all red plastic is pointless...

Dodge Charger
I wanted to add a caviat to my previous post: excessive red plastic can be done tastefully. The examples are few and far between. The new Dodge Charger is the best example, but click through to see a couple others.

Saab 9000
The Saab 9000 is another example. The red plastic extends quite nicely with the taillights to create an integrated, decidedly Swedish look. As a former owner of a 9000, I love this design through and through.

Cadillac CTS
Cadillac knows how to make its red plastic functional. The plastic across the trunk actually lights up, a feature other automakers can learn from.

  2. I can't help noticing that all of your examples are red cars. I think the extra red plastic works best with red paint jobs. It doesn't stand out as much.
And, yes, if you are putting it there, make it functional.

  3. Bill...the article that links to your site should be up later tonight. I was delayed due to other obligations. It's short, but it is nice.

    Keep up the good work.
